Behind-the-Scenes Science Tour of Smithsonian’s “Objects of Wonder” Exhibit and Natural History Collections- March 7 @ 6:30pm

March 7, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Museum collections once had a reputation for being old and dusty. Yet at places like the Smithsonian—the world’s largest museum complex and a major scientific research institution—scientists actively rely on these treasure troves to gain new insights into the unfolding story of the natural world on a rapidly changing planet. The National Museum of Natural History’s upcoming exhibit “Objects of Wonder,” which opens to the public on March 10, tells the stories of some of the remarkable objects in its collections, including Martha, the last surviving passenger pigeon (RIP Martha).

DCSWA has been invited to join the museum for an exclusive sneak peak of this interdisciplinary exhibit followed by an opportunity to see the vast behind-the-scenes collections that drive the museum’s science, exhibitions and outreach. You’ll have access to the curators, collections managers and exhibitions staff who selected these wonders, and are the leading experts on their scientific and historic significance.

  • The Smithsonian is generously providing snacks and light refreshments!
  • When: March 7, from 6:30-9:00 pm
