Tour of Chocolate Factory that Restores Rainforests– Oct 22nd @ noon

October 22, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

$5

DCSWA members will take an hour-long tour of Harper Macaw — a state-of-the-art chocolate factory in DC interested in rainforest conservation! A chocolate tasting will follow after the tour.

“Harper Macaw restores and protects deforested or vulnerable rainforest in northeast Brazil. At Harper Macaw we see the potential for cacao agroforestry and private reserves to facilitate large-scale tropical reforestation, and we’re thrilled to actualize this vision.” – Harper Macaw website

Amanda Greene, the production manager, who has a food science background, will discuss rainforest conservation, the science of making chocolate and focus on the confections they’re creating for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Space is limited to 24 spots. Guests are allowed. A $5 security deposit will be required per person to reduce the number of last minute cancellations. If you attend, the $5 will be returned to you. Thank you for your understanding.
