Take a FREE behind-the-scenes tour of the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge in Laurel, Maryland — the largest wildlife research institution in the U.S. Hear about ongoing bird banding and research efforts from biologists, visit the center’s veterinary hospital, and get up close with whooping cranes. This workshop — the first in a new DCSWA workshop series that focuses on developing different skills — will help you understand your digital SLR camera so that you can shoot more creatively. These cameras have an excess of features and buttons, and the goal is for you to concentrate on the useful features and ignore the rest. At the end of this workshop, you will know how to focus selectively, get a good exposure and control your depth-of-field.
Science Comedy night is back with a stellar lineup including headliner Sammy Obeid, who has appeared on TBS’s Conan, NBC’s Last Comic Standing and America’s Got Talent. He also holds the world record for most consecutive days of performing comedy, with a 1,001-day streak. Buy your tickets early!
