On March 26, Join two of the scientists who have been part of one of the greatest journeys of planetary exploration. For 20 years, some 500 researchers, including Michael Flasar and Carrie Anderson of the nearby Goddard Space Flight Center, have worked on the Cassini–Huygens Mission to Saturn and its moons (including a spectacular probe that descended to the surface of the storied moon Titan) to demystify many of the planet’s secrets and to uncover new mysteries.
Last September, in a poetic death throe, Cassini descended into the planet’s roiling atmosphere where the spacecraft disintegrated and instantly assimilated into the planet it had been spying on. When you hear about what the Cassini scientists have learned and still hope to discover, your feelings for the famous ringed planet might ascend to the level of love.
