Professional Development Month: Using TikTok for Science Communication

June 24, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The short-form video app, TikTok, has a lively community of science communicators sharing fun, engaging science content.  We’ll explore how to create successful videos to spread the word about scientific research and organizations. Our panelists will discuss their process for creating videos, what audiences you can reach on TikTok, and a variety of other topics, such as how to use TikTok to combat misinformation online. For the TikTok-uninitiated, we’ll start by explaining what the platform is and some tips to make your videos stand out.

Katrine Wallace, PhD – Epidemiologist at the University of Illinois at Chicago. (@epidemiologistkat)
Tessa Nelson –  Educator Performer at Denver Museum of Nature & Science. (@denvermns)
