The Ocean: Our Future – An Evening with Jane Lubchenco

Need some ocean optimism? On Oct. 15, spend an evening with Jane Lubchenco—marine biologist, science communicator and the first female administrator of NOAA. In addition to breaking barriers in science and policy, Dr. Lubchenco also co-founded organizations like Climate Central and COMPASS to help better communicate science to the public. In this free talk, she will highlight the challenges facing our global ocean and solutions that businesses, governments and communities are already practicing to combat them. The talk starts at 7pm, with a light reception at 6. A Q&A will follow the talk. Free and open to all.

This event is hosted by the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, and received support from the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative. Parking near St. John’s College is available at the Calvert Street Garage (19 St. Johns Street, Annapolis, MD 21401). Garage parking is free after 6pm.
